Life is the ceremony
Every day is filled with rituals with life as THE ritual. We honor the daily ritual of cacao farmers who live on seed time, with each day a ceremony of connecting with the diverse forest they steward. At our roots, Cloud Forest Cacao is consciously connected to the lives of Quechua farmers across the Rio Mayo Valley of Peru. Through this connection, our cacao embodies heart-fullness of the present moment, with each sip inviting a sense of joy, wellbeing, and interbeing with all life on this planet. We offer this ceremonial cacao in reciprocity with family farmers and the diverse forest they steward. Each step of growing and processing focuses on preserving native, wild cacao as part of a food forest. With this intention and commitment to wellbeing for all, our cacao bridges a sacred connection between the farmers, the earth and the things that matter most in life one ritual at a time.

Cultivating wellness through indigenous led food systems
Nourish yourself with the the rich flavors and health benefits of Cloud Forest's ancestral cacao, sourced and processed by a network of Quechua family farmers and crafted in small batches to elevate your taste buds and nourish your body and soul.
- The term cacao is derived from Mesoamérican practice of making a cacao drink, which was revered as the fruit of the Gods. Recently, anthropologists discovered traces of cocoa on ancient pottery suggesting it was first used by communities living in the rainforests between Ecuador and Peru around 5,300 years ago.
- Pure cacao has high amounts of antioxidants, flavonoids as well as iron, magnesium and other minerals. This superfood especially promotes cardiovascular health and overall wellbeing. Cacao contains small amounts of caffeine and is packed with theobromine, which provides sustained energy and focus, while also relaxing the nervous system.
- We work with farmers to grow ancestral, criollo cacao varieties through a regenerative village hub that helps farmers work collectively to plant native trees . Through expanding the cultivation syntropic agroforestry across the region, farmers can grow ancestral cacao as part of a food forest and transition away from monoculture farming. This results in the highest quality beans that nourish consumers, farmers anand the forest alike . Native varieties of criollo cacao are sought after for their rich flavor.
- Our cacao is fermented for 7 to 8 days until it reaches 70% humidity , then sun dried to bring out its full flavor profile and bioavailability.
- Every harvest is tested for heavy metals and chemical contaminants and compliant with FDA food safety standards.
- Cacao is lightly roasted and ground in small batches for optimal flavor and freshness.
- We source our cacao through direct trade with small farms that make up a farming cooperative. Through this approach, farmers earn significantly higher profits than in commodity markets and connect with resources to improve the resiliency of their farms and livelihoods.

Community & Connection
We recognize the symbiotic relationship between farmers, products, and the people who use them. We foster meaningful symbiotic relationships that promote reciprocal land stewardship. This involves working collectively through a regenerative hub that helps farmers add value to their crop through quality processing , and incentivizes them to follow regenerative farming practices. This include working closely with a network of farms to follow regenerative practices, planting cacao as part of a nutrient dense food forest . Through the regenerative hub farmers access technical assistance and a community nursery to plant native tree species. Over the past decade , farmers have planted over 20,000 trees through the regenerative hub, focused on protecting ground water sources.

Striving for a healthier planet for all.
We are dedicated to environmental responsibility and ethical practices, from sourcing to distribution.
